About Us

RailRoute has been developed to provide the first complete, interactive map of the rail network in Great Britain. Originally the brainchild of Luke Gardener, a student in Bradford who drew the original drafts in his home, the idea was seized upon by Chester-le-Street stationmaster Alex Nelson who wanted to see the idea published, particularly to draw attention graphically to the availability of PLUSBUS tickets to allow bus connections on the National Rail network.

Alex drew in Creative Art and Design in Newcastle Upon Tyne to design and produce the map based on the original drafts. Specialist help has also been recruited from Elan Public Transport Consultancy in Chesterfield, Derbyshire and an interactive map is being developed by Rombus Computers in Newcastle Upon Tyne.
